Dip Gurung
Dip Gurung is a famous and acclaimed choreographer and director of a Nepali music Industry in Original cultural song category. He has choreographed and directed more than 500+ music videos. He has received various national level awards and honors for protecting, supporting and promoting Nepali art, culture, cinema and the entire artistic sector. He is also known as the "Cultural King" due to his unparalleled contribution to the field of Nepali cultural music.

He has also directed and produced a Nepali language based Gurung movie "Naina" based on the Gurung community.
Starting doing stage shows in dance from 2002-03, Dip Gurung made his career debut with the choreography of "Jala Joban" Kauda song around Sept 2017. He has choreographed and directed different genres of songs like "Kauda", "Lok Dohori", "Jhyaure", "Thado Bhaka". However, the song "Gorkhali Thado Bhaka" turned out to be the turning point in his career which became very popular among the audience. Since then he has choreographed and directed many popular songs like "Maili", "UK London", "Muglin Pul Tari", "Jhulke Gham Heraula Kancha", "Hey Thuli", "Maya Rimai", "Laure Ko Karma", "Chari Basyo Basai Ko Sai Sai Ma" etc.

Dip Gurung is the recipient of numerous awards which include national level awards like Best Music Video Director for Folk and Duet Song "Hey Thuli" and "Laure Ko Karma".

Early Life

Dip Gurung was born on August 28, 1983, in Siranchowk - 2, Gorkha district in Gandaki Province of Nepal to Mankaji Gurung and Maita Gurung. He is the eldest child of the family. He has two younger brothers and two younger sisters.

His family belongs to the Koke subtype ("thar") of Gurung ethnicity of Nepal. Dip Gurung has completed his Secondary Education Examination (SEE) level studies from Shri Janjagriti Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Turture in Tanahu District. He moved Narayangardh Chitwan in 2000 to join dance course. During this dance course, he met his life partner “Him Kumari Gurung” and got married in May 2003. After around six months in Nov 2003, he moved to Kathmandu and started his journey in performing dance in stage shows.

Stage Show Choreography

Dip Gurung started stage show choreography in 2003.

He has choreographed the stage performance in many national and international level programs like Tamu Lhosar, International Tamu Conference, 13th South Asian Games Opening Ceremony etc.

He is still active in doing show choreography.

Music Video Choreography

Dip Gurung started his music video choreography journey from "Jala Joban" Kauda song in Sept 2017 under "Paschimanchal Culture Center".

Since then, he has choreographed many music videos which include popular ones.

Music Video Direction

Along with the choreography of music video, he also started to work as Music Video Director under "Panchimanchal Culture Center" during 2017 only.

He has both choreographed and directed many popular music video songs like "Maili (Oct 2022)", "UK London (Apr 2023)", "Muglin Pul Tari (Feb 2022)", "Jhulke Gham Heraula Kancha (May 2022)", "Hey Thuli (Oct 2020)", "Maya Rimai (Oct 2021)", "Laure Ko Karma (Dec 2020)", "Chari Basyo Basai Ko Sai Sai Ma (Apr 2021)", "Gorkhali Thado Bhaka (Feb 2020)", "Mathi Hai Lekama (May 2018)" etc.

Most of the above music videos have crossed 1 Million views on YouTube so far and are still getting good views.

For the songs "Hey Thuli" and "Laure Ko Karma", he has been awarded with national level awards for the best Music Video Director for Folk and Duet Song.

Film Direction

After becoming successful in Music Video direction, he started the film direction as well from the Nepali language based Gurung film “Naina” in Sept, 2022. It was a family drama film based on the Gurung community and revolved around the main character "Naina" which was played by Laxmi Gurung.
The other two lead actors in the film were Anand Gurung and Suraj Gurung.

Personal Life

Dip Gurung is married to choreographer Him Kumari Gurung (May 2003). They have two daughters named Deepanjali Gurung and Dipshikha Gurung and one son named Nischaldip Gurung.
